sony hi8 camera to powerbook. . .how?
Does anyone know how to hook one of these dinosaurs up to my G4?
what sort of cable will I need?? or adaptor? or what???? help!!! :) |
If you are limited to the Hi 8 cam, then you need a breakout box, or video card to import the footage to the edit on the system. Alternatively, get a hold of a Digital 8 Sony cam (depending on model) and you can play the Hi8 tapes on the Digital 8 and capture through fire wire.

Yeah the breakout boxes just converts the analog signal coming out of the camcorder via RCA cable to a digital signal for the editing software to use and sends it to the computer via firewire. Are you using iMovie to edit the footage?

Actually Hi-8 seems to be a popular topic recently. See the following:

i used pyro dv to capture my hi8 video. although for some reason final cut pro would constantly quit, no matter what setting i changed, but imovie had no problem. so i captured in imovie and exported out to quicktime.
