What's the best compression?
I've just finished a 3 minute video and I want to be able to post it for streaming download. What's the best way to go about doing that? I have FCP 5 and Compressor. I'm just not sure what compression settings to use.
Thanks, Todd |
for web, i export using quicktime component, and export to the following settings:
- mpeg4, best quality, limit to 1000kbps - aac audio, 48khz, 128kbps (you can go lower if audio is not important) you can compress a good 4 minutes into 24 megs. h264 will give you better compression but i am waiting on that until the majority of web surfers have quicktime 7. hope this helps. |
It does help. Thank you.

Best Compression for 100 minutes on DVD...
Sorry... I meant to start this as a new thread, not put it here.
"Wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the best compression for a 100 minute video that was shot on miniDV to put on DVD. I am exporting the edited sequence from FCP 5.0 and I will be using DVD Studio Pro. What is considered better for this, using Compressor or Quicktime? And then what would be the best settings. Thanks in advance for any help..." |
Jay,
My experience, though limited, is to export using compressor. As for settings? I would start with Best Quality DVD and go from there. Good Luck Todd |
