Multicam edit issue
I've been successfully working with multicam edits for sometime now and lately I've been having a problem I cannot solve: When cutting between angles (in this case, only two), the timeline sort of freezes up and then a catches up after a couple of seconds.
The footage is on an external RAID (0) drive - eSATA and the footage is DV anamorphic. I've trashed settings, played with the unlimited vs. Safe RT settings, all to no avail. I must be missing something simple but cannot seem to find it. I am running an 8-core Mac Pro, snow leopard, and FCP 7 with all the latest updates. Any readers out there ever have this problem? Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it? Thanks Reed |
Have you set RT to unlimited? It may be stuttering on playback - and setting RT to unlimited may fix it.
Also, in FCP user preferences, make sure you don't have "Limited real-time video" checked in the general tab. |
Is the drive close to full?

Settings and drives
Unlimited has always been checked but I did try it in "Safe" as well with no change. Footage is on an new G_Tech Raid drive but prior to that, drives were only about 30% full.
I'm going to get the last three sequences cut before I trash all and start from scratch. I am wondering if there could be some incompatibility between the two angles like DF vs. NDF time code? Have to take a look at that. |
