need to see mov files timecode on PC

Hi all,
I have several years worth of footage that needs to be logged (ie I need the content written down). It's all in mov format - captured by Final Cut. Due to limited computer availability, I'm having to log this footage on a PC. I need to be able to view original timecode. Does anyone know how I can view these files with original timecode on a PC? So far, I've tried Edius - but haven't been succesful at importing the original mov files. Edius can import a converted mp4 - but I lose original timecode.
Hope someone can help!

You'll need third party software... CatDV springs to mind, and would be the most obvious choice.

CatDV 8.1 Download Page

You can get a free trial and it is cross platform, will read all the metadata correctly from your existing clips, and at the end you will be able to export an XML that you can import into Final Cut of all your logging notes, saves heaps of time there.

Quicktime does it just fine.

I'm as big a fan of CatDV as the next guy, and use it and Live Capture Plus when required -- but QT on a PC will show you embedded timecode in a DV file. Click on the timecode display and see the options - it defaults to showing every clip as starting at 00:00:00 but there are option arrows that allow you to change to embedded timecode instead.

Cheers,

Thanks guys - great advice! I just tried the Quicktime solution on my Mac, and it works. Wow - Quicktime is so useful! I will try it on the PC when I go into the office.
