TV not recognized by Mac
The ATI card in my Mac has two DVI display ports. In the manual, one is listed as single-link DVI and the other is listed as single-link DVI TV out.
So I hook my Dell LCD up to the first port and I hooked a regular television to the second port. I used the DVI-to-VGA adapter that came with the Mac and a VGA-to-s video and RCA video adapter that I came with a Matrox G55 card I had laying around. Well, you can tell the Mac tries to detect the television because it goes from black to a distorted gray pattern twice before it gives up. It does this same thing when I go to Display Settings and try to detect the monitor. Just to be safe, I tried both DVI display ports and both the s-video cable and the RCA video cable. Same result: the LCD works fine, but the television is never detected. Now, I know that the scary link in here is the VGA-to-s video and RCA video adapter, but it shouldn't it work? Thanks for any input you can give me with the current setup. Alternately, I would welcome a suggestions for how to turn the DVI (or DVI-VGA adapter) into a usable television signal that the Mac will recognize. Thanks, Kelly |
I also tried two different televisions...a 65" rear projection 16:9 and a 32" tube 4:3.
Thanks, Kelly |
Further troubleshooting...
Just downloaded latest ATI drivers. Same results with either Mac Display Settings or ATI Display Settings. TV still doesn't work. |
