Powerbook G4
I have a Powerbook G4 and use Final Cut Pro 3. I want to get FCP4 and DVD Studio Pro but my Powerbook is too slow and weak to handle the pressure. What are some steps I can take (make it more powerful) without buying a new computer? Thank You.
|
Specifically, which model of Powerbook do you own?
|
I use FCP4 with a 256mb, 550mhz... works fine. (not as good as my ghz, but definitely works) Hi Ken why aren't you outside in this beautiful Chicago SUN?
|
Hmm, is it sunny outside? <g>

Powerbook
256, 550 mhz. How can I make it render faster? Cut down on render time is very important. Thanks Ken.
|
I tend to set up sequences to avoid un-needed rendering. I really haven't noticed my 1ghz powerbook running too much faster.
Where in Chi are you Ken? |
faster hard drives>? firewire sata drives?
|
Tyler: I recommend adding memory, to the maximum capacity even if it means replacing the memory module(s) currently installed. I also recommend using a fast (7200rpm) external Firewire drive as your scratch / render disk. Although the data transport through the the Firewire bus will be a bit slower than through the internal bus, relieving the system drive from this task will more than compensate for this issue.
That's about the best you can do for any Powerbook. Josh: downtown. |
