Mac Pro and Dell 2407

I have a new Mac Pro and two Dell 2407WFP monitors. When you correct the monitor in System Preferences what Display Profile are you using? I have been using Dell 2407WFP but wonder about Apple RGB since I am using FCS.

Interested to know what other use.

I'm running the Dell 2007WFP. I used the original DELL 2007WFP profile, but went through the calibration process with it, so now, my profile is called "DELL 2007WFP Calibrated"

Thanks Eric I did the same thing but can't seem to match the two monitors with the same settings.

Eric Darling January 22nd, 2008 03:25 PM

Have you double-checked that the two monitors have the same hardware settings from their own menus? In other words, they should each have identical values for contrast, brightness, color, etc.

Paul Cronin January 22nd, 2008 03:30 PM

Yes, I went through all the settings on the menu's together and both are the same. When I calibrate the monitor on the right which I view the footage full size it lets me do a full calibration. But when I do the monitor on the left it just does Gamma and White. Weird but I am sure I am making a simple mistake.

No, that's a function of the graphics card, probably. One output is more capable than the other. You'll probably need to adjust them separately, and tweak the one with which you have more control to match the other.

Good point that is what I will do.

get a spyder 2 pro and it will create custom profiles. Also there is a spyder 3 now I believe.

I use a 2407 on my Mac Pro as well, I love it.

Anyway, get yourself a Huey Pro calibration tool for under 100.00 and calibrate the monitor, HUGE difference over anything you will get from System Prefs, I guarantee.

Thanks Jim,

I also use Eye-One but the software for Eye-one is not that good for a Mac. I will look into Huey Pro.

I check out Spyder 3 and they told me answering a email I sent that it is not any better then Eye-One.
