DTD timelapse?
Hi all;
Does anyone have experience with recording timelapse (interval recording) direct to disc? I have an FX-1 and would like to purchase software that would allow me to record m2t files to a laptop where I am capturing every 10th frame or so to disc. I would consider one of the DTD recorders instead of a laptop if this feature was offered. Thanks for any feedback. |
HDV is a problem for interval recording because it is GOP based MPEG 2 - hence you must record at least 1 GOP (in the case of the FX1 I think it's 15 frames). None of the current D2D solutions are intelligent enough to do this (well none that I know of...). Some do interval recording in DV mode which is intraframe.
Maybe using a laptop and Cineform codec (intraframe based) could be the solution but I don't know if any software supports interval recording in that mode? If you are only looking to record every 10th frame (not much of an interval really) then I would suggest that DTD recording everything could still work as you can record for periods up to 8 hours and just use software to compress the timeline. |
Thanks John
John;
Thanks for the explanation. I will be on the lookout for such a feature in the future. |
