7D does Porsches and Bourbon

Very nice work. I enjoyed it a lot. I think the DSLR with their small form factor and inconspicuousness are predestined for documentary stuff. albeit all the drawbacks. and the hd makes it perfect for glitzy stuff - such as nice cars.
just one question - isnt that a recording of a fellony? drinking and driving =D? Cheers |
A few suggestions:
The Steadicam work is too frenetic--take your time, slow down, make it sexy like those cars! Too many rack-focuses. A little goes a long way to avoid being gimmicky. Many more interesting ways to use shallow depth of field than that. The primary interview looks like it was grabbed (closer to evening-news style than a one befitting a product overview/image piece). A more sophisticated lighting scheme and better use of background would have helped. Given that the gent seemed a bit on the sweaty side, a softer key may have caused less hot spots than the hard light used. Editing style was a little patchy--jumped around in styles and rhythm. Looks like a really fun day! |
Thanks Charles.
the interview I wanted to do that morning at the dealership, he kept making excuses. I had to shoot him when he was back in town. I had to grab him in a hotel lobby area before he left for another event. |
