DVD to TV Monitor?
I'm using the Pioneer A05 DVD burner/player - which works without a hitch.
Is there a way to connect the DVD player to an outside normal TV monitor so that I don't have to buy a separate stand alone DVD player? Ideas appreciated. Ewald |
What you'd need to do would be to get a video card with an S-Video or RCA out. The problem there being that such a video card is very likely to run you more than just buying a DVD player would, especially since you can get a pretty decent DVD player for $60-$70 usd. APEX is a good brand to look into -- Cheap with lots of options (DVD-VCD-CD-MP3 playback).

There are a ton of us using Apex 1100's, get em at Wal Mart for around $70.

Basically you cannot view your movie from a DVD player in
your computer (directly) because it doesn't have any decoding software/hardware. It just understands the DVD disc (like a CD) but doesn't know what to do with the MPEG2/Video on it (like VCD on a normal CD). As pointed out you will either need (if you want to do it on your computer): - a video card with a TV connector (composite/svhs) - an mpeg2 decoder card with TV connector (like RealMagic Hollywood+) I have the last one and that card gives a better quality than through a video card in my humble opinion. BUT, the best option now-a-days is indeed to just buy yourself a seperate DVD player. As pointed out these can be very cheap these days and don't need you to fiddle around with your PC. |
