Native import using onboard DVD player - Is this possible?
Now, I'm pretty sure that this is not possible and if not, why? If there is a way, please let me know. I don't see why you should have to import DVD video from a seperate unit when there is one built into your system whether it's on a tower or a portable. It seems like that's an unnecessary step. Is it just too much for a processor to handle? The same goes for audio CDs and loading songs.

For DVD's, do a search for "rip" and "vob"
For CD's there's tons of options. For example, in Vegas you just go to File - Extract Audio from CD |
Yeah I'm actuallly pretty surprised there isn't native support for this yet, even in plugins. I know pioneer now makes a dvd player that (seems) to defeat any copywrite output...and if you just loop it through a camera or deck to dv it is beautiful looking. I use a ripper and a sn from S2K and it works, but I wish I didn't have to take the extra step.
If you come across anything let me know. |
Some programs start to offer native support, but only for non-encrypted disks
(ie, nothing coming out of Hollywood will work). There is a ton of legal and community problems with the whole "grabbing footage from a DVD disk" thing. But it definitely is possible. When going on business trips I like to copy my DVD's to my laptop so I don't have to bring a disk along and potentially loose it. I use a program called "DVD Decrypter" for that. Works perfectly. |
