Finding dvd players that play +RW?
Is there any other way besides physically trying, to tell if a dvd player can run +RW dvds? My player box annoying says 'some +RW discs may not play'. About what percentage of DVD players can handle +RW?
Also is +R more compatible nowadays? I read in a 2004 post that +R was only about 80% compatible back then. |
You can try videohelp.com -- there is a link to DVD PLAYERS along the left side that will let you check what users have experienced with different DVD Players.

Your second question
There is a technology called "bit setting" (also called book type) that makes +R and +RW disks more compatible with all players. Bit setting is basically "fooling" the player into interpreting the burned disk as being a pressed one. Only bit setting enabled burners driven by bit setting enabled burner software can accomplish this; Google around for more.
Regular +R/+RW disks (without bit setting) are still less compatible than -R/-RW disks. |
