Happy Christmas to all the members and our many readers from around the world.

It’s winter in the northern hemisphere but here in Sydney we’re enjoying days of sunshine and surf. Cheers.

Thanks guys and a happy Xmas to you and your families. What have you asked Santa to bring you both, no I don’t meant the same thing for both of you.

Cheers.

Re: Happy 2024 Christmas.

I've asked him to bring me a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo, 'cos I'm still searching for the ultimate travel outfit to suit my needs.

A bigger, heavier camera and solid tripod may be the bees' knees for out and out quality, but the ageing back doesn't see (feel?) it that way any more! Accepting a fixed aperture and focus lens and that zoom is accomplished by walking a bit closer, an action cam comes close, but the EIS shutter requirements are a limitation too far for me. I know, I own a few.

The Pocket 3 gimbal imposes no such requirement and the focusing lens is a bonus. All the adjustments are electronic via the touch screen and yes, I do miss the feel of lens rings for focus and iris, switchable ND filter etc., but perhaps I should stop being a Luddite and accept that the 21st. century way of doing things can be more convenient. And you know what they say "the best camera is the one you have with you".

By the way, Santa is a good old boy, he's dropped it in a little early!:-)

Dave there’s more add-ons for that camera than all the car companies in the world. Have fun checking the Boxing Day sales coming up.

I asked for Focal Celestee headphones, Santa must be busy this year he dropped mine in early too and they sound great. One interesting thing, mine are black colour while all the adv. photos are blue, vis ….

Hi Dave, now you have yours, I’m not sure, but on Open DV Discussion, 6 months ago Adriano Moroni was asking about the same camera. He might have solved his problem by now but after you finish your Xmas Day lunch you might be able to assist him. :)

Cheers.

Interesting, I thought more members would have joined this thread, wonder if it’s an indication of the current state of the digital video industry ..?

But we all hope our founder Chris Hurd and family had a great Christmas. Cheers.

So did I, but I think it might be more to do with the current lack of interest in forums in general.

I, for instance, only belong to a very few forums since the demise of P3U and CCU and only post on any of them when I have something to say. It seems that most traffic has gone to "social media", but I don't know that for certain as I don't subscribe to any of it.

Hi Dave, I guess you’re right. I’m not on any social media either, but I thought supporting their old school might have drawn a few comments. We’ll see how the HNY announcement goes. Cheers.
