How to view newest post first on a thread?
I'm sure I'm missing it so hopefully someone will point out the obvious to me :)
After opening a discussion thread I like to see the most recent post first without having to drill down. This is very handy on long threads that you are checking often... otherwise everytime you open the thread you have to keep clicking till you get to the most recent post. Thanks for any help. |
Most recent, or first unread? If you are logged in, just click on View First Unread right above the first post. If View First Unread does not appear, there aren't any new ones since your last visit.
|
I like to see 'most recent' first (on top)... so the post appear from newest at the top to oldest at the bottom of the screen.
Anyway to do that? Thanks. |
Go to your Control Panel and scroll down to "Thread Display Options" and there is a "Thread display Mode" checkbox for "Linear - Newest First."
|
Oops, sorry, totally misunderstood your question.
|
Regardless of your user settings, from the main forum page (without opening the thread), in the "Last Post" column on the right, click on the little arrow to the right of the person who made the last post.
|
Matt, That reverses the sort for all threads...
What I want is when I click on a thread to have the thread appear with the latest post at the top and the original post at the bottom. But I'll be darned if I can see how to do it. Thanks for the help... and a how-to if there is one :) |
I meant the arrow to the right of the person's name who last posted, not the arrow at the top of the column. But that will just take you to the last post, not change the order.
|
Got it Matt and thanks.
Your right, that only takes you to the last post but at least you down have to drill down clicking to get there :) As you know I was hoping to get a presentation like this for any particular thread I opened... Newest Post on top Previous Post just below ... ... Original Post at bottom But this is not a deal breaker so no problem. The forums are so useful in any form they are presented... and the folks who provide them do provide a service. |
Francis, did changing your control panel setting as I suggested not work?
|
Pete, of course it works perfectly and does exactly what he wants. He must not have tried it.
Controls > Edit Options > Thread Display Mode. Don't forget to Save Changes. |
Da Da ! It worked. Thanks Pete!
I got there like this... Edit Your Details > Edit Options > Thread Display Mode > Linear Newest First then, as said... click Save. thanks again all for the help :) |
