Charles Papert profiled in ICG Magazine!

Howdy from Texas,

So today I finally sat down (draw your own conclusions) with the first magazine at the top of my Magazines From NAB2005 Stack, which happens to be the April 2005 issue of International Cinematographers Guild, with a great cover -- Bruce Willis from "Sin City," for the feature article about Rodriguez creating a digital noir setting for that film.

Lo and behold, on page 14 in Bonnie Goldberg's monthly column "Crew Views," there's a four-page article about one of our most beloved DV Info Net installations, the prolific Charles Papert, ASC! "Cinematographer and Instant Films Founder Takes the Indie Route to Success." What a wonderful write-up! Unfortunately it's not available on the ICG website, but maybe I can talk 'em into letting me run a copy of it here at DV Info Net. Anyway, if you picked up this mag at NAB, or otherwise have it on hand, be sure to read about one of our favorite DV Info Net moderators.

Congrats, Chas!

Wahoo! We can all say we knew him back before he became the legend. Congratulations Charles! I mean, Mr. Papert.

K. Forman April 30th, 2005 02:21 PM

Tell me he doesn't have a staple in his navel?!?

Chris Hurd April 30th, 2005 02:56 PM

Keith, my only complaint about that article is that out of three photos of Chas, none really show him that clearly... but at least he's not shirtless!

K. Forman April 30th, 2005 03:32 PM

I saw a picture of D.S.E. in an ad for something, in DVmagazine. He looked awful fuzzy there. What is it with these photogs? The only thing they can get a clear pic of, is equipment.

Chris Hurd April 30th, 2005 03:38 PM

Shoot, I've got great photos of Chas, D.S.E. and other notables where they're better looking than real life. I suppose I should work up a page to put them on.

Charles Papert April 30th, 2005 04:59 PM

Shirtless--eeew--you don't want to go there, gents.

I seem to be cursed as far as good candid set shots go--I never seem to get captured in the "sexy" cinematographer poses.

Thanks for the nod, Chris!

That is awesome! As I do not have all these 1000s of articles to prove the worthiness of my praise, you will just have to believe in my admiration :) .
