Vimeo in a flash website?
Hello everyone...
Regarding VIMEO...will it work on an all flash website? I uploaded AVI Clips to VIMEO.com & my web designer says it won't work on a flash website he's making for me. Is this true, that VIMEO will only work on an HTML site? If this is true its a major bummer for me right now......The current clips look pretty good, but if I have to convert them to flash first before I upload them to VIMEO, they won't be as sharp. |
If you already are using flash on your site, why would you need Vimeo? Encode the videos using Adobe's new f4v format which is basically their implementation of H.264. It looks pretty darn good. Here's a sample: Southwest Initiative Foundation (and I've got the compression cranked up pretty high...)
Anyway, here's a thread you can show your web developer about embedding Vimeo in flash: Embed Vimeo Videos in Flash in the Vimeo Technical Help Forum |
What your web designer is probably talking about is that he cannot embed vimeo files into the site, because vimeo doesn't support external flash site embeds. But some coders have figured out to do it, and explained how to do it here:
Embed Vimeo Videos in Flash in the Vimeo Technical Help Forum It doesn't have to do with the type of video you upload to vimeo (Because they convert all the videos to the same type of flash video file), but how vimeo distributes the video once its on there. Again, if you have your web designer check out that forum thread, and he knows how to tweak the action script code, you may have a fix for your problem. |
Good link! ;)

Chris,
The video on your sample link looks really good. What data rate did you encode it to? Andrew |
