Timecode from HDMI
It appears that Sony's NXCAM such as the NEX-FS100 will output timecode in a private data packet to the HDMI port.
Are there any plans for a future firmware upgrade to enable the Nano to read this timecode? Better still would be an ability to read it from the HDMI port and output it onto the HD-SDI port. |
Re: Timecode from HDMI
Dear Bob,
Yes, we have plans to extract the timecode from the HDMI stream. And, if we are successful in doing that, then we will embed the timecode in the HD-SDI output, (but only if Video|E to E Direct) is off). Background: When Video|E to E Direct is on, then the HDMI input is passed through to the HD-SDI ouptut very quickly to provide as low a latency as possible. Thus, when enabled, we do not have time to embed the timecode into the output stream. When Video|E to E Direct is off, then we take the extra time to embed Timecode and Analog Audio into the output stream, but this causes some latency. Video|E to E Direct on: Latency = around 1 microsecond or so. Video|E to E Direct off: Timecode and Analog Audio embedded - Latency = 4 Frames. |

Thanks Dan.
Looking forward to this enhancement. |
