Neoscene 1.2.1 doesnt fix 5D2 colourspace issue?
 

I am on a trial ver of 1.2.1 Neoscene now. I pulled a converted avi to Vegas 8.0c timeline and place it side by side with the original mov file. its a lot easier to edit but i noticed the washed out colour obviously.

Looking at the videoscope revealed that the original was from 0-255 and the converted avi from 16-235. Is there something wrong that I'm doing? I had the impression the colour space issue was resolved.

David, could u help? Would love to purchase Neoscene once this works out. Thanks!

The CineForm output is correct, the MOV output is wrong. Vegas uses Studio RGB which places black at 16 and white at 235. There is more dynamic range in a Studio RGB output.

Got David's answer from another thread already. IT WORKS!!! It's Vegas fault, not cineform. Workflow is as below.

1. Convert all mov files to avi with Neoscene 1.2.1 and above
2. Drag into Vegas timeline
3. Apply Color correction filter >> Video Systems RGB to Computer RGB (Critical Step to correct washed out image due to incorrect colourspace representation by Vegas!!!)
4. Edit as per normal and render to desired format

Becareful, remember Vegas was designed to use Video System RGB (which has it advantages) so you exports might get extra contrasty they are expect than under contrasty look and you leave the VSrgb to CGrgb filter active. In Vegas this is a mess. See Glennchan.info

So David would you recommend using RGB over YCbCr444 as I am using the YCbCr444 via HDMI on my monitors???

For no computer displays, I stick with YCbCr, out of habit.
