shooting monitors
Is there any adjustment that I can make to eliminate the "flickering" associated with shooting computer monitors? I know on the Sony DSR-300's and above there is such an adjustment. How about for the Canon XL-1?

Yes, Canon XL1S
The XL1S has a setting which allows you to match the refresh rate of the monitor. It works fairly well but you may have to adjust both to get the proper match.

As Keith notes, the XL1S has a feature called "Clear Scan" to accomplish this job. See page 72 of the English manual to see how to activate it.

The XL1 does not... As pointed out above, the newer s model
XL1s does have clear scan. If you have a plain XL1 you are out of luck... |
