XL1 and balancing
Hey guys,
I was wondering... is the Canon XL1 using balanced or unbalanced audio, balanced being a positive and negative link as well as a ground link while unbalanced is only positive and ground (no negative)? As a consumer product, my guess is that it uses unbalanced audio, but who knows... I don't have the camera in front of me and won't have it until it's quite too late to come to realize that stuff. It is quite important because I need to know the proper wiring to plug this warhorse!! :) Any ideas? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Oops, didn't notice the XL1 subforum. Could anyone move this? thank you. |
Hi Simon................
If it's just the basic camera on it's own, it has unbalanced RCA audio inputs.
If it's fitted with the optional MA - 100 it has two balanced XLR inputs. CS |
Does this MA - 100 come (even optionally) with the camera or is it an external adapter like Beachtek or Studio One?
Thank you. |
It's a Canon optional extra bolt on, there's even a MA - 200 which seems to allow for 4 mics, tho' that may only be for the XL1s.
They're around if you want to buy one S/H. Google it, shouldn't be too hard to find. CS |
Simon, I'm not sure if it's ok to put ebay link out here...
...but there is a few there. You find them if you search for "ma-100 canon" on ebay.com |
Isn't it better to buy something like this?
XLR Adapter The XLR-BP 3 Pro XLR Audio Adapter Pro XLR Adapter An audio adapter with a few mixer options? Does the XL1 feature a 1/8" mic input jack? Thanks! |
