Slow shutter speeds on xl "1"
I use a 1S and when my buddy came to me with his "1" I couldn't get the shutter to shoot longer than 1/60th. Is there a trick to this older cam? I tried full manual as well as Tv mode.
Thanks guys, |
Jo
If you go to page 50 of your manual, Canon as usual makes no sense. Your Shutter will operate at 1/8 to 1/15000, just like the XL-1. I have both manuals and could not find adetailed explaination in the "S" manual like explained in the "1" manual. Call Canon monday, I know I will! Bruce |
No problems with my 1S.
But on the old xl1, the SS would not allow going slower than 1/60th. It made no sense to me as I've always thought it went, more as you say, to 1/8th. |
Hi,
I am sitting looking through the viewfinder of my XL-1. In manual the slowest speed is 1/50. To get slower you need to select the digital effect button and this will give you 1/25, 1/12 and 1/6. Cheers Andrew |
Make sure you are in 'Normal' movie mode and not ' Frame' mode and the selector is in A and not Green Box.

Indeed, on the older XL1, slow shutter speeds are *not* accessed through the shutter buttons, but rather through the Digital Effects buttons. This is on page 35 of the XL1 manual. If you don't have the manual, you can download it from www.canondv.com or the Watchdog from the Resources section. Hope this helps,
