Dead Pixels - Camera Guru Requested
 

I'm thinking (seriously) about buying a slightly used (about 10 hours!!) XL-H1.
I took it home two weeks ago and started playing with it's capabilities.
One thing I did was set the Shutter Speed to 1/4 and accidentally shut down the iris.
When I did this, I noticed several "dead" pixels. 6 immediately, but more after closer examination.
So I took it to the guy who's going to sell it to me and showed him the problem. Still under warranty, he immediately took it to Canon and had it repaired.

It came back today and the work order said, "Performed missing pixel compensation."

As a potential buyer, should I be worried?

Not if Canon fixed it.

Ditto, that's a good thing that canon did that. Just to have fun you should ask if you can have the defective pixel... j/k

Actually it was 6 or more dead pixels. I just don't know what I'd do with them lying around the house. Just more clutter. Can't keep those things in bottle on the shelf, you know...

I'm taking the camera home this weekend. Any tests I should put it through to help my process for deciding if I'm going to buy it? Simple tests, hopefully. Stuff a layman can do.

Rest assured that since it's been to Canon service, they have faithfully brought the camera to as much of a "like new" condition as possible, including firmware upgrades, etc. Run a head cleaning cassette for five seconds or so before inserting your first tape. You should have no problems with it at all.
