Network TV
Without getting into too much (stupid NDA), I shot my first segment for a network TV show this past weekend with my XL2&kit 20x, a borrowed 3X wide, and a borrowed 12' jib and 7' dolly.
Phenomenal results. Really, really spectacular. It was for a cooking show segment so I got to be really creative with how I used the cameras lens system to get that desired effect. The XL2 does it's job, and really does it well. |
Congratulations Matt! The XL2 still produces lovely images in the right hands; and still looks good on my non-HD TV!
Any chance we can see some footage? Best, |
Yep! Once I get the go ahead from the producer or the show airs (whichever happens first) I'll post some.

Always good to see some one from my home town area doing good things with the XL2!
What network? Scripps? |
Nah, it was for a production house out of state. I wish it were for Scripps. Haven't done anything for them yet.

Nice!! I use to work with a XL1, and not to long ago bought an XL2. I haven't got to use the XL2 because I'm in the Army and went through allot of training and still got more to go, but I'm glad to see the capability of what I'm going to work with
|
by the way here is a couple of clips I did with my XL1 victor guzman on Vimeo
|
Nice work Matt! Bacon never looked so good, especially in front of the XL2 :) I got heartburn after watching that clip!
Hi Victor--I don't think you'll be disappointed with the XL2! And with you owning/operating the XL1, you'll be more than familiar with the controls on the XL2. (I gotta remember to sign up on Vimeo...) Best, |
Matt,
Awe!!! now I love bacon and that just makes me yearn for more!!! The images were quite good. The xl2 is an awesome camera!!! In Low light, better than my xlh1!! |
I especially like it with the 16x manual. Sweet.
I still haven't bumped up to HD yet. Just haven't had enough call for it. (Oddly enough, I get more and more 'web' work...) I'll eventually go HD, but the XL2 is STILL making money for me. It's a workhorse. (When I DO go HD - it will probably be the XLH-1... I can port over my 16x and fu-1000 and all the batts...) |
"In Low light, better than my xlh1!!"
Man, I keep hearing that. The XLH1 must really suck in low light. As much as I love my XL2, I'd say the PD170 and DVX100 are both ahead of it in low light performance. |
