What about SD?
I have an XL1s and my trusty GL1 that I like a lot. But with the introduction of the A1 (and the numerous sample clips that everyone here has posted), it has made me want to get rid of these cameras for an A1.
But I like my XL1s a lot and was probably thinking of getting rid of the GL1 first. I use both cameras at the same time a lot to do random filming and such but my question is... Since the XL1s does not have HD capability, does the XH A1 allow the user to shoot in either HD or SD? |
yep, you can shoot in SD and it looks awesome.

Second that. Spent two days this week shooting with the A1 in SD and was worried that it wouldn't stand up to the quality I was used to on the DVX100B. Gotta say, the footage looks fantastic.

Sweet...now, it is just a matter of finding enough coins from the sofa cracks to get one. :)

Down-converted footage looks really good too, so you have the option of using for SD productions today, archiving the tape and using it in an HD production later. Unless you need 4:3, in which case shooting SD 4:3 in the first place may be best.
