Name brand generic?
 
The elusive search for an inexpensive but usable matte box continues.... The $900 Century DV Matte now appears to be the same unit as the $300 generic one:

At least Century offers a wide version, looks like the clever shutter is missing however.

Apart from the build quality, the significant detail that is almost always omitted is whether or not there is any sort of 'light trap' that prevents stray rays from entering the filter slot. I'm not a big fan of taping over filters.

Trying to find more info on this matte box that allows the AF sensor to function unblocked. Still no info on his website.
