Jason,
Thanks for your comments. I would love to spend more time in New York City, but it was just for a few hours. A guy from Staten Island showed me how to stay on the back of the ferry to get some good shots of the city line, he was so very helpful. Shooting on the ferry was hard because it would get a harmonic bounce going and I could not hold the A1 still on CU of the Statue of Liberty so I stayed wide. I would use a filter on the water next time, the haze was really bad, and it was trying to rain. Please film and post it, I will be waiting. The Okie from Muskogee |
Good to know about the Ferry. I will be taking footage of different types of architecture in Manhatten. Especially those that adorn Masonic symbols. Should be interesting.

My first compilation with the Canon XH A1
Hello there!
This video is nothing great. It is my first ever compilation with my new Canon XH A1 with a Panalook2 preset so I thought I would go ahead and put it up on Vimeo. First Canon XH A1 test on Vimeo I noticed on the vimeo version that I see an interlacing issue, however I don't see it on any other version. Is there anyway to correct that? Thanks in advance! [QUOTE=Mitch Hunt;970207]Great Job!
I loved it, the picture was crystal clear. Are you using a preset, or doing color correction in post? I will be getting the A1 soon and would like to know all the methods of getting the best image quality. Hi, A little bit of both actually, check the presets thread on the forum, try some and see which one you prefer most. That's how I did it. |
Gatlinburg in the Fall
I shot this a couple of weeks ago in the Smoky Mountains and in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Shot with the XHA1 and Letus Extreme. Let me know what you think. Gatlinburg on Vimeo |
Nice footage. What program did you use to create the vinette?
|
Nice colors! Did you time warp this footage at all? It seemed a bit choppy at points.
I must say that the Letus extreme is a great add on. Can't wait to get mine. Good stuff! |
Thanks Jason.
I didn't time warp it, but i did want to have a strong contrast between still and handheld. But also, the wind was killer up there. Even with everything locked down tightly, it caused things to shake. That coupled with idiots who constantly bumped into the camera could cause the choppiness. Plus, I couldn't get the compression I wanted under 500 mb for vimeo. But overall, I am still really satisfied with it. The Letus is seriously one of the greatest investments ever. It is a very smart buy. |
Well..it is good work! Actually, the choppiness was due to a slow net connection. No worries!
I am saving up to get my Letus extreme. It looks fantastic! |
Magic Bullet Looks, what else? :)

Out of curiosity, did you shoot 24p or 30p? If either of those were used, I'm not sure why interlacing artifacts would showing up. I have found Panalook2 to be be a great preset that gives a good bit of latitude, and adjusting the levels during editing really makes the footage look much better. Your footage looked kind of flat. Did you do anything in post?
