Second try with new 516 head
Hello!
Few days ago i replaced my Bogen 229 head to 516 and tested it. Found my tripod (442) too weak for this huge head :( Hope you enjoy video - http://exposureroom.com/members/DenJ...349c32611539e/ Cya! |
Dmitry, nice film i like the music !
I found the compositie very beautiful Which music are this ? |
Hi
I like this kind of films, reminds me of my own productions. Please tell us about the music. Regards, /Bo |
Hello!
Thanks for comments! Music from one of my favourite movie - "K-PAX", first track from CD - "Grand Central" (main theme). Cya! |
Very nicely put together. Composition is lovely. Music fits the piece well.
The only thing that puzzles me is that 80+ percent of the shots were locked down. And those pans and tilts that were there, were very short. I expected to see allot more long pans and tilts seeing as how you were trying to test out a tripod head. BTW: Loved the forests of birch trees. Reminded me of my childhood in Ukraine. Any chance this was shot somewhere in the former Soviet union? |
Glamour shots XHA1 + Letus Extreme
Hi
HERE you can see grabs from my last glamour portrait video attempt, which i will post soon. Thanks for critiques. |
Hallo Giovanni
Nice pictures not difficult with such a model. It would be nice if you tell us which preset(s) you have used . Thx |
VIDEO ONLINE!
It's an 156MB HDV so maybe it's better to download it (right click, save as) download it here! (Quicktime HDV native mov 1080p25) WMV 640 x 360 Arnold I used a mod preset which i will post soon. It's name is HDV2SD, and it's conceived for HD shooting for SD. High sharpness, no blacks, for cleaner image and easier CC. |
Nice... I liked it..

Wild Florida - Panalook2 test
I shot this with my A1 this morning to test Steven Dempsey's new Panalook 2 preset. I was looking for something more natural for outdoors and something that would hold up to high contrast. Shot all manual settings with no CC. 1080i/60 1/60 sec.
Some of you might think Florida is all beaches and Disney World but there is still some Wild Florida just outside of Tampa. I decided to take a 2 hour walk to visit some favorite places. Nothing fancy, and I was alone, so I had to shoot my self to get any movement - sorry. I think the Steven's preset worked great! Thanks for all your work on this Stephen. http://www.vimeo.com/910824 |
Live Music Video repost
I screwed up the link on the first one so I thought I'd try again... thanks

Nice shots...
|
I think this video is really one of the worst case scenarios for the A1 and the HDV codec... It seems to have held up very well in spight of compression and potential artifacting from the strobing lights...
Nicely composed... |
Nice shallow Dof-shots Jim, did you use an 35 mm adapter?
Robert |
No adapter, just the stock lens

This was a nice little video, Jim. I'm still working on my craft but I appreciate clean pieces like this.

First shot - Autocross Race
This is my first time actually using the XH A1 out in the field. I played with it a bit inside of my house, but this is the first time outside.
Also, I picked up a book on Premier CS3 from Adobe Press, and after going through half the book, I was able to edit this video. I still have a lot to learn, and still need to save up to buy some nice equipment. This is a video that I shot at Gainesville, FL at the Gainesville Raceway. It's an autocross event hosted by Martin Sports Car Club, held on April 13, 2008. Please let me know what you think and I'd appreciate some constructive criticism. http://exposureroom.com/members/mako...42c6fa7b2afbe/ Thanks |
A1 macro with two stacked diopters
Litepanels Micro lighting a wasp on the wall, with two stacked Century achromatic diopters, 3.2x and 2.0x. Need to use a tripod, still experimenting with the setup.

you need to mark it 'unprivate' to view.
At least for me anyway Trish |
Good job on your first edit. Not sure the second music track really meshed with that calm, sedate first track though. If you are going to switch to that more frantic style music I would suggest you make your cuts really fast to keep pace - just my two cents.
|
Good video. I really like autocross and need to get back out there. Now I'll take my camera with me. Thanks!
Some thoughts: I liked the first track, it went nicely with the shots. I would have liked to see more slow-mo dramatic stuff happening. Like a tight framing on a car as it comes across a tight turn. It'd be nice to see a slow-mo rear-end slide or wheel spinning with that slow music. The second track was great but I kept wanting to hear sounds from the cars. I think mixing in some of the real audio from the cars with that music would really pull you into the action. |
Thanks for the feedback.
I agree with you Jim with the two separate tracks. I do like the first music track, but unfortunately, that piece remains pretty calm and slow and doesn't really speed up, and I wanted to show more excitement with the video. Probably need to find an alternate musical piece, or find another way to get the feel of action even with slower music. Will, I also agree with you that there should be some audio from the cars. I'm debating on redoing the edits now adding in some of the car audio. It'll be a little tricky simply because I was a little distant from the cars and didn't pick up the audio that well, along with the fact that the announcer's voice would mesh in too. |
Keep up the good work.

Whats a diopter? Your right you need to use a tripod. cool how close up you can get though.

RC Helicopter --- FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!
This is a short 3 min. video I put together and did a very quick color correction with my limited knowledge. This is nothing special but it's a cool video if anyone loves RC especially.
I'd love feedback on the quality/color/clarity. I can't keep getting better if I don't hear from the pros.. N8 http://theastonisher.com/Nathanimal/...rd%205Mbps.m4v |
BTW. it was shot in 60i, Shutter Priority/500, fieldskit deinterlacer

2008 Sports Real Intro For School
Hey guys, this is something I just had to throw together.
http://www.vimeo.com/926620 The producer wanted the beginning shots really dark and grimy, i personally would have liked a little more light, but hey, it was his call. Tell me what you guys think! |
it's not loading - getting a scrolling code page instead - should it be playing online or is it for download only?
Trish |
Hi Nate.
Nice pictures. Reminds me of when i was a kid. I bought (and still have) one of the original Kavan Bell Jetranger RC Helicopters, but i'm sure it would never do what that thing does. Cool clip. |

I agree that the beginning should have more light.
I do like the way the sports transitioned from one to the other. |

Good job on the editing, and for what you had to do with low light shooting, the shots came out really well with little to no grain. |
Pink Flamingo in the Yard
Here's my first outdoor test:
http://vimeo.com/932593 Shot on Canon XH-A1 with ND filter at max and I can't remember whether I was using the Panalook 2 or VividRGB preset. |
Might be the laptop effect, but it looks a bit underexposed to me. Shooting from knee height would have given you a 'deeper' background.
Have fun with the new camera. I like the XH-A1 for what it can do outdoors, but its a light-sucking demon indoors. Hope you don't plan on using the AGC. |

I'm planning on purchasing a few 750 watt lights for indoor shooting but I'm waiting a few weeks because I just spent $$ on a miller fluid head tripod. |
anymore feedback
looking for some more feedback :)

I thought you really captured the energy of the band - great angled shots and movement - pulling out and bringing us back in and catching their movements which were quite dynamic and not easy to track I'm sure
if possible it would have been great to have a few real closeups of the singer's head - sweat and the works but they all moved around so much it would have been difficult I no expert at capturing live music on video but it certainly looked good to me and the minor exposure/focus nitpiks are forgiven if the overall piece is working from a performer standpoint (which I am) I would have been very happy with what you produced Trish |
thanks thanks, next time maybe ill tell the producer when it just doesnt seem like a good idea =o. hahaha
