Why not use the mic mount?

Yes, but I use an attachment that holds the mic in rubber bands to isolate it from equipment noise. Maybe there is an adaptor that will fix it into that clamp?

K-Tek is good stuff.

What I would like to see is a flex thing you could mount like that K-Tex, but it would angle up and stick out 2 or 3 feet--in other words, sort of a camera-mounted fishpole, so the mic could be positioned close to the way you would with a soundman available. I've been in a few shooting situations that would be very handy. I have a French flag whose flex arm is made up of round plastic shapes that can be popped apart or stuck together to shorten or lengthen the support. I can angle it almost straight up, make a near right angle bend, and position it exactly where needed. Something like that for a mic would be cool. Dumb looking, but functional for when you're by yourself, need to shoot an interview, and don't have a C-stand and fishpole handy.

I use a backpack that comes for cameras, one division for the gl2,the other for batterys, cassettes, etc. Fits Pretty good in my back. I have a friend that have a backpack canon look like mine.

I bought this bag to carry both my A1 and my Canon 20D and lenses. This bag is huge but works well to transport my gear from A to B. then I use my lowepro slingpro 200AW to either carry my still or video camera.

I used a Tamrac Expedition 5 backpack for carrying a GL2 for a few years but recently got a medium Tenba Shootout backpack. The Tenba has much more confortable straps, thick velcro tabs for attaching a large-ish tripod, and I like the construction better. Like with the Tamrac, the compartments are configurable. The following photo shows where I position the camera within the packpack.

Wait... I'd like to qualify my comments. I'm not saying that a Tamrac or Tenba or any other backpack is right or wrong for anyone else.

I do suggest that backpacks be checked-out first hand. I took my A1 to check-out backpacks and spent some time considering fit and features before making a decision.

edit. K-tek is a very awesome company, they are just big enough to give the best customer support ever. I bought their Zeppelin and I was given the choice to customize every single element of the zeppelin to my liking without extra cost.
