Which is BIGGER? Sony HVR-V1U or Canon XH A1?
If anyone has see both the Sony HVR-V1U and
the Canon XH A1 side-by-side, I'd love to hear what you think about the following questions... :) (1) Which one is bigger in actual physical dimensions. (2) Which one appears bigger? Last, but not least: (3) Which looks less professional? I want get the one that makes the least impression on the subject being videotaped. (or the one that's less likely to get me kicked out because they think I'm a professional, which I'm definitely NOT) Thanks! |
The V1u is the smaller out of the two but to get audio you would have to hook up a microphone to it so your best bet is to get the Sony FX7. It looks a lot less professional than both V1u and the Canon.

Tim, what kind of work do you do that you want to look "less professional"? Why would you get kicked out, and from where?

Hello
The Canon XH-A1 is definately larger. I've played with both the XH-A1, V1 & FX7. I'd say that the XH-A1 is sized between the Sony Z1 & V1, if you havent seen the V1 in real life, it is basically the same size as the Sony PD-170. The XH-A1 looked MUCH more professional then the FX7 when I was comparing them, and thus feared that the V1 wouldn't have the pro-look & appeal, but when I finally played with the V1 last week it seemed on par with appearing as Pro as the XH-A1, or any of the Sony HVR HDV products. What kills the look of hte FX7 is the paint job, they painted it LIGHT grey. Very un-pro if you ask me. |
