Re: The end of an era... XH-A1S discontinued?
I have FOUR of these babies ... and love them. Only down-side for me is occasionally I get dead pixels in footage I have to compensate for in Post.
Most of my shooting is with one or two of them doing cinematic-style shots for independent film. So, I invested in a Canon FS-CF Pro Portable Compact Flash DTE Recorder to cut down on ingesting footage from tape and buying so many miniDV's. It integrates rather nicely with the XH A1s. It is being sold for $350 discount right now at B&H PhotoVideo until Dec. 15th if anyone has been shopping around. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/684200-REG/Canon_1751V350_FS_CF_Pro_Portable_Compact.html It even syncs record functions and recognizes video format selected on my camera. So far I like it. |

Good tip, that gadget is $1,200+ most other places.
With the discount it's $595 at BH. |
Re: The end of an era... XH-A1S discontinued?
Any noticeable quality improvements with the FS-CF Pro (no drop frames of course). To tape, it records 1440X1080, what's being recorded to the FS-CF Pro, the same?

Re: The end of an era... XH-A1S discontinued?
Yes, what the camera send to the tape will be the same as to what it sends to the recorder, no improvement in quality.

Re: The end of an era... XH-A1S discontinued?
Isn't the FS-CF only Fat32 which limits record segments?
