Can US battery charger be used in Europe?

Hi, all. I received my EOS Rebel XSi last night and saw in the owner's manual that its battery charger can be used in Europe with only the addition of a plug adapter - no transformer necessary. I checked my XH A1 manual, but didn't see much info about its charger at all. Does anyone know if the XH A1's stock charger can be used like the XSi's can? It would be great, as I'm traveling to Ireland and would like to lug the minimum amount of ancillary equipment.

Thanks

Yes
(check the back side of your charger:
it should say something like "Input: 100-240V; 50-60Hz")
Enjoy Ireland!

All the best

I'm finding most chargers and power supplies (like for laptops) are multi-voltage these days. As mentioned above if it says "100-240V; 50-60Hz" on it's label, you can use it most anywhere without a transformer.

To be ultra safe, you should change the original mains lead part as they are sometimes only spec'd to 120 volts. Not required if you use a transformer.

I confess to not being ultra safe with some equipment...

All the OEM electronic adapters that come with cameras are designed for worldwide power, they all have stickers to that effect. If the sticker says 110-230VAC, the cord also will be 230V rating, UL would never approve otherwise. Go to Radio Shack and get this kit Plug Adapters for Foreign AC Converters - RadioShack.com for $19.99, you are good to go anywhere :-)
