Is there audio playback with the XH-A1
 

After recording a scene does the speaker looking thing on the top of the camera actually playback sound?

Yes it does.

How? Can't seem to find it in the manual.... Is it a menu set?

Page 8, item 15 - cunningly referred to as the "Select/ Set dial" is, in truth, the volume control for either the inbuilt "non speaker" or the headphones, if any are plugged in.
