LCD inverted
 

Anyone ever have the image in the LCD viewfinder become inverted? It's upside down. Everything--the image, the data readout, etc.

I find no option for changing this in the Display Setup or other menus. . .

I have not tested myself, but some cams flip the image when you turn the LCD to the front, to see the LCD from the front of the camera. If you are looking at the LCD from the "Back" of the camera and its flipped - something is wrong. Are you sure it's not a setting somewhere?

If you find out how to do that deliberately, write it down. People who use the spinning ground glass adapters always want to do that, but supposedly the Canon won't.

When you flip the LCD over, like to see it from the front of the camera, as the above post mentions, it does the image flip. I'm guessing the internal switch or whatever that senses the screen is upside down got stuck in that position.

My guess is the magnet got stuck (Whose idea was it to puy a magnet near a video tape?).

Close the door and tap gently. Or, shake it up and down a few times.

I'm happy to say my LCD is back to normal. It went away as mysteriously as it appeared.

Sorry that I can't proscribe a method for doing this on purpose for those wishing to use a ground glass viewfinder.

If it is like its little sister the HV20, there are dip switches that are activated when the LCD is turned to the front of the camera. The HV20 does not work on a magnet like other cameras, and I would curious about the A1. I ve actually had the cover off the HV20 to investigate, and if you are good at soldering small things, you can add switches to flip horizontally and vertically to fit your needs.
