HDMI to LCD Monitor & WB
Am I right in thinking that the signal from the HDMI out is not affected by White Balance settings? I was filiming in a fairly dark inside environment recently, and while the view finder and onboard monitor responded to WB setting, I was seeing a strong magenta cast on my remote LCD fed by that HDMI out.
I expect that the monitor has WB settings I can access. |
Re: HDMI to LCD Monitor & WB
Woah! - I think any adjustment to another device this way could lead you up the garden path. What you see in-camera SHOULD be what you see on an external Mon?
Did or have you calibrated/setup your external monitor, for colour validity? Reminds me to look at my own too. Good question! Grazie |
Re: HDMI to LCD Monitor & WB
Thanks for the input. The monitor is Chinese of the eBay variety and sold as Feelworld 7. It matches the camera's VF and screen in good light, but but was way out in low light (looking at the stills I took, about EV4).
Thinking back, it was OK for this particular shot which was about EV5/6, and it was a much darker shot where the very strong magenta cast showed on the monitor. As I said above, camera VF and LCD screen looked to be right. All sizes | Omaka Heritage Centre 2 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! I am still pretty new to video, but finding that my DSLRs perform rather better in these sort of conditions, and with a static scene like above, I shall use the still and pan & scan. |
