XF 300 dual slot recording and the XF 200/500?
It's my understanding that the XF100 allows you to record to both card slots simultaneously, whereas the XF300 does not have this option. I wonder if Canon would make this feature available on the 300 in the future through a firmware upgrade...?
Unrelated - at first I was speculating that Canon would have an "XF200"... But I don't know what they would put in it after having looked at the 100 feature set which isn't too shabby. So now, I wonder if Canon is going to release the "XL" interchangable lens cameras as the "XF500" in the $9000-$10000 price range...which is what the hi end HDV XL series were going for.. |
I also hope they come out with an interchangeable lens model of the XF300 soon which should make a great camera for wildlife filming among many other uses. I plan on upgrading from the XLH1 by May. I wonder if they will announce something by NAB. Who else would like to see an interchangeable lens model of the XF300?

Me. Certainly waiting to see what Canon has in store. I love the XL system.

I've heard from this forum (or maybe another) that the outstanding image quality from the XF300 would not be possible with an interchangable lens system. That whatever magic Canon uses is only good through the integrated camera body and fixed lens combo - or something to that effect.
Now, this was just hearsay, perhaps a rumor, that soemeone had heard. I can not confirm this. Somehow, I would think Canon has the engineering expertise to design around any such problems. I mean, who would have thought a 1/3" CMOS cam would be accepted by the BBC? Canon puts out some amazing products. |
