HV20 slow motion shot from 60i footage
 

60i source clip to 60p and then to 24p for a slow motion effect using After Effects. It's 960x540 H264 in a .MOV so it'll play in QuickTime player or VLC.

Can you explain how you went from 60i to 60p to 24p. What editor did you use? What were the steps you took when using AE?

I would find a step by step explanation extremely useful. If you have the time...

I'm just trying to learn the best way to accomplish this. Your footage looks great!

Here's another shot. It is me running in front of a barn shot at 60i, there are three versions in the clip... 60p, 24p, and finally 12p... play with QuickTime of VLC

2.6 MB, Shutter was 1/500 also, a slower shutter might make it looks smoother, I wanted to get it without motion blur

I was doing this with final cut. kinda fun. for final cut I use Nattress G Map Frames plugin.

It's odd - I don't remember seeing this done with footage before, in the last 3 years even though it's always been shooting in 60i (in NTSC land).

It's as convincing to me as the HVX200's slomo. And, if you take into account the trickery that the HVX200's 1080i image is upscaled from 1280x720, then this is just as real to me as "true" slow motion on a HV20! :D

This camera's uses keeps expanding. Wonderful.

No prob Eric. You can also use morph effects to add in betweens to the 60p footage to get even slower motion but then you start dealing with a lot of work and motion artifacts.

I have to admit Wes, you are temping me entirely too much to get the HV20 before my XH-A1, making me wait a bit longer for my a1!
