HV20 real battery times
I know that one of the things I'm going to miss from my A1U is the ability to have it munch on a huge battery that gave me a good 300 minutes worth of juice. I've used it all day on just that one battery and sometimes two days.
Anyway, what should I expect from the HV20 and does *anyone* make a bigger battery than the 2L14? |

to use the viewfinder? :) For what it's worth, I got roughly 80 minutes of nonstop recording.(using the flip-out LCD at bright setting) |
You can also get a pocket full of 2L14's. They are small and light. Only $14 a pop here:

I must admit....most of the "3rd party" batteries I've bought have been crap. Now I just buy OEM batteries.

I have had good results using Lenmar brand on my Sony VX2000 and my FX1. I actual had a couple of Sony oems go bad on me.. We will see with my coming HV20.

For the HV10 I grabbed some BP-315 on ebay for liek $8 each... they work... they don't work as long as the Impact brand (Was like $40) but they work longer than the stock battery... probably 1.5 hours... I have 2 of those and the impact (Impact maybe does 2 hours)... stock battery might get 1...
So I got about 6 hours for my batterys which is enough... |
Thank you guys. I had already written off using the viewfinder. The nice thing about the HC1/A1U was that the viewfinder tilted up so that it could be used even if there was a huge battery.
6 hours on one battery is great Joe!!! Too bad that the HV10 batteries are not compatible with the HV20. thanks again, Cesar |
Has anyone used the Impact 2L14s yet?
BH has em for only $35. Thanks JohnG |

FYI, I stopped at a Fry's here in Dallas and they have the Canon Optura/Elura accessory kit on the clearance rack....normally $99 now $9....it includes a soft carrying case, BP-2L14 battery, and one DVM-E60 DV tape. The battery is the 'genuine' Canon...so it says on the packaging.

C.S. Michael,
By 'crap' you mean they don't last as long as expected or did you have other problems? B&H were out of Impact batteries so I ordered the original Canon model. I'm looking at Ebay/Amazon and I see a couple with the same specs but higher mAh rating. Incidentally, my ZR200 and HV20 have the same kind of power adapter. Only the capacity appears to be different between batteries. You can tell by the size of the pack, which helps to not mix them up. |
