question on raincover
Does the kata raincover allow you to use and see the lcd on the gl1 or gl2 while the cover is on?
|
Somewhat. There is a clear plastic window over that area and the cover is baggy enough to allow the lcd to be open. But you're not going to get a good view of it for two reasons. 1. The plastic introduces glare and distortion while viewing through it. 2. If it's raining the water wil further distort the view through the plastic.
You'll end-up using the viewfinder while using almost any raincover. |
Rob,
The GL2 'Rain slicker' from PortaBrace will allow you to open and use the LCD screen. A type of 'box' is folded out around the screen. See this link for a picture and better explanation: http://www.portabrace.com/Details/RS...D150detail.htm Ken W. |
The same is true for the Cam-Kote. The LCD opens into a little 'box' so you can continue to use it.

KATA Raincover
I just got the KATA RC14 for my GL2, but it is too big and seems clumsy to use. I didn't want it so much for shooting in the rain, but to protect from dew on grass and leaves, and general protection from scraping and light bumping out in the woods and fields. But such a cover should also allow for the GL2 to be set up to shoot quickly. For the unexpected rain, I can carry a large freezer bag in which the whole GL2 will fit.
I guess I'll have to construct something myself to meet my particular needs, unless someone knows of such a product out there. If anyone wants the RC14 at a deep discout, let me know. Roland |
