Hey, what kind of memory card for video?
What kind is the best one for video on 5d mk3.
sandisk "extreme" x400 60MB/s 32gb sandisk "extreme pro" x600 90MB/s 32gb Which of these is good enough for video shoot.? and what could be the difference between them.? thank you :) |
Re: Hey, what kind of memory card for video?
for video both will work... no problem.
for hi speed photo in full RAW the 90MB/s will work better (not that much buffertime). |

Yup, those XQD cards are faster than CompactFlash. Check Rob Galbraith's Nikon D4 data-transfer speed tests: bit.ly/ImMiPw |
Re: Hey, what kind of memory card for video?
Both should work fine, although I think the extra cost of the 600X is not really needed. 133X can sometimes stutter, but not 400X.
I have been using Kingston and Transcend and both work well. I think that the UDMA 32GB 400X CF cards are a perfect choice. |
Re: Hey, what kind of memory card for video?
I am recording ALL- I video on sandisk Extreme Pro 45Mb/s no issues
|
Thank you Guys.
Since the 5D mark iii had the option recording on both(one at a time) cards...So The difference between SD card and a CF card, lets say i get same capabilities on both cards(SD & CF) speed and capacity wise, they have no difference except the physical one. right? they do the same job (video mode only).

Re: Hey, what kind of memory card for video?
I have always preferred CF cards as they seem more robust but that may be a mistaken impression. SD cards are certainly smaller & easier to lose although they are about half the price for the same capacity. CF cards can have faster read/write speeds which isn't an issue with recording but does mean that you can dump the contents of CF cards a lot quicker than SDHC cards.

Re: Hey, what kind of memory card for video?
I shoot video on All-I and have tested both my Class 10 Patriot SD Card and Kingston 266x CF cards and see no difference between the two.
To be honest, while I like CF as well for the impression of perceived quality, cheapo class 10 SD cards work just fine as well. |
