Re: need help
What did you do to try to import it? What version of FCP?

Re: need help
nothing special i just put the usb in and tried to put the file in the timeline, i have fcp 5

Re: need help
I use the Canon DPP app to manage the assets from the camera, so it connects and downloads stills and video to the hard drive. Then in FCP (I'm using v6) I do a File:Import:Files and select the file I want to work with.

Re: need help
At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, you copied the file off the camera and onto the hard disk first right?
You should be able to drag and drop from finder into the media bins, from memory. Dropping straight on to the timeline probably won't work. If all of that isn't the problem, maybe try to update Quicktime. |
Re: need help
I see, thanks a lot for the info. I think the usb reader i was using was dodgy (got it free with the cam), i copied the file to my pc running windows 7 and then put it on a decent usb flash drive and transfered it to my mac which seemed to work.
I can see im starting all over again figuring out a good dslr workflow Andy |

Re: need help
The DPP app has been pretty dependable and no need for USB card readers and the like, just USB to the camera and download.
