The actual resolution of these cameras have been discussed on this forum and in a lot of others around the net. Resolution is a number that can be measured but not the ultimate indicator of the image quality of the camera. You won't find real pros crushing the camera because of its resolution. You will find real pros here on this forum such as Charles Papert using them and creating great work with them.
The images from the camera are acceptable for a lot of uses. If you understand the limitations of the technology you can shoot around the problems. Play to its strengths and don't get caught up in the numbers game. I shoot with several cameras including a 7d and EX1r. Even though the 7d has less resolving power than the EX1r it didn't stop us from using both together on a feature length Indie film. The scenes we shot with the 7d look great. We used the differences in the cameras to accentuate when the story moves between time periods. |
