The Canon TC 80N3 Intervalometer
Currently I have an inexpensive intervalometer from eBay. Worked great for about a month now it is notoriously intermittent, even after changing to new batteries.
So I've been looking around for the Canon TC 80N3 and its out of stock where I usually purchase equipment [B&H, Adorama]. Abe's of Maine claims to have them in stock for $144.95. Has anyone purchased from them? Are they a reputable dealer? Also. what's up with this: DealExtreme: $34.04 YongNuo TC-C3 Precision Timer Remote Shutter Switch for CANON EOS DSLR Cameras Is this a knock off? It looks very similar to the Canon TC-80N3. Anyone have one of these? Thanks. |
I have two of the YongNuo's, one each for my wife & myself. Works fine. I haven't tried a multi-hour time lapse yet tho.

Abes is okay -- if you know what you're getting into
I purchased my 7D from Abes, and have bought from them one or two other times, as well. They're okay -- every time, I got what I wanted. But they'll make you call a customer service rep (read: salesman) before they ship, who will try to upsell and add accessories. Even if it sounds like a great deal, stick to your guns, tell them "no" a dozen or so times, and your product will be on its way. You can get good deals there, but their tactics are very off-putting. A quick Google search on Abe's (or head to resellerratings.com) will give you a few hundred similar stories.
That being said, I did get what I ordered, but I held my breath until I pulled it out of the box with a real USA warranty. Good luck! |
