Macs can - as of today - absorb CR2 files also...
 

As of about 10am, 23 Feb I got an update to my OS that now allows us to ingest CR2 files without Canon's DPP gatekeeper. Whooopee...

I am sure this is a yawner for you PC users, but being able to simply make folders in iPhoto of both jpg and CR2s and import .mov files directly into iMovie is a big deal for those of us who like 'simple'.
