support for 7d

I have just ordered my 7D and will be using a smooth shooter some of the time. Is there some type of bracing I can buy for the 7d? Sorry for the vague description. I am shooting a music video within the next couple of months so wanted to have some type of support to make it fell more like holding a video cam or to just support the longer lenses.

hi Lalo Alvidrez,

I'm using Redrock's TheEvent DSLR rig. It has a shoulder brace, not shoulder mount. Works like a regular camcorder for me. If you wish to use shoulder mounted rigs, you can try out the EyeSpy rigs.

You can also explore options like the Zacuto Rapid Fire and similar rigs from them.

Hope that helps :)

So you will be shooting with a smoother shooter glidecam, but you also want to do handheld or shoulder mounted? For handheld I would check out the ultraport or captain stubling from redrock. You could also modify those by adding a cage to them so you can do low mode shooting. If you plan on shooting with anything near an F2.8 you should probably invest in a follow focus and a 1st AC to pull focus for you. On the glidecam I recommend using a 24mm or wider shooting around F5.6 and stay roughly 12ft away from your subject so they are always in focus (distance will depend on the lens and aperture). If you will be shooting shoulder mounted check out the eyespy balance since DSLR cameras make rigs pretty front heavy.

From my experience, the redrock stuff is very robust, innovative, and has really good pricing compared to other companies in the same field.

Hope this helps.
