iPhone DoF calculator, anyone?
I'm looking at buying an iPhone DoF app, and wondered if anyone is using one currently, and what would be on their pros/cons/experiences list...
|
I think the one called DOF is pretty good, it has a bunch of presets and you can easily switch between 2 cameras / sensor sizes. It tells you DOF in front, behind, the hyperfocal distance, circle of confusion, etc. So for me I have one programmed for my EX1, and one for my 7D so I can quickly compare them. I think it was a couple of dollars, a steal for a great tool.

PhotoCalc and iSee4k are both excellent.

There is an app available called pCAM, and its just about as extensive as it gets. It's widely used through out the film industry by working professionals and assists with a ton of different areas relating to focus and focal lengths with cameras. It's pricier than most apps, but well worth it.

Yes, while pCAM is $40, it's filled with lots of useful associated apps besides simple DOF. See:
pCAM for iPhone Other useful programs are: Movie*Slate (I like it better than Slate) PureBlend Software :: Movie★Slate ReelDirector (editing iPhone video): iPhone Apps from nexvio | ReelDirector Regards, Michael |
Also, there's FilmCalc which looks very cool, you can download a free trial from here:

On sale for $29.99 at the moment. |
I paid the full forty, and consider it worth every cent. It's a real education for a DIY Filmschool of Hard Knocks guy like me.
Just bought Storyboard Composer and looking forward to using it soon. |
I have both
The camera DOF apps are pretty good. Pcam is very good and Photocalc is not as powerful but a good value.
