Super 16 sensor with a B4 2/3" To Micro 4/3 Adapter

Is it true that a lens with extender (2X) is required to prevent vignetting on a BMD Studio Camera with a MTF Services MTB4M43: B4 2/3" To Micro 4/3 Adapter? The BMD Studio Camera is a super 16 sensor, just like the BMPCC.

Blackmagic Design Studio Camera HD (Super 16mm Sized Image Sensor) 2.88X crop?
12.48 x 7.02 mm – same as BMPCC (Super 16mm Sized Image Sensor)

I think there was vignetting was occurring on the MFT 2.5K camera with the MTB4M43 adapter...

Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera (MFT Mount) 2.3X crop?
Actual: 16.64 x 14.04 mm

Anyone have knowledge of this?

#::nevermind::

This adapter does require the 2x to be engaged on the lens.

To use a lens without the 2x engaged, you will need the B4S16M43 optical adapter which is specifically designed for S16 size sensor cameras.

B4 on the BMPCC is really nice, except for the CA (which varies from lens to lens). A proper lens makes it a whole different camera :) I just wish someone had an affordable 1.5x TC for B4 - it would be perfect for S16 size sensors and 2/3" ENG lenses...

Re: Super 16 sensor with a B4 2/3" To Micro 4/3 Adapter

I own a BMPCC and picked up a $100 to b4 to mft mount from eBay. My 2/3 eng lens does not have a 2x extender and it vignettes quite a bit. Don't really have anything to add about the BMCC, but just confirming that the heavier cropped bmpcc sensor does suffer from vignetting on a standard 2/3 lens. Having used many 2/3 eng cameras on video shoots in the past with a 2x entender. Even those eng cameras don't look great when you engage the 2x extender. In order to properly outfit the BMPCC and BMCC with a quality lens you need to get an more modern 2/3 HD lens, because they seem to have a better optics in the 2x extender. Unless you find a steal, one of those lenses will set you back $4000+

The link above is bad now because it was changed for some reason. This works now:

B4 2/3" to Super16 Micro 4/3 Adaptor
Use B4 2/3" lenses on a Micro Four Thirds mount camera with a Super16 sensor. This means you can use your B4 lenses on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

MTF own stainless steel C mount.
We recommend you use HD lenses for the highest quality possible.

Provision to accept the MTF M/43 & E Mount Support & DTap to 12Pin Hirose Cable.

Please note: although it has a Micro Four Thirds mount, this adaptor will not cover anything larger than a Super16 size sensor.

There will be approximately 0.8 stop of light loss when using this adaptor.

Other Camera Fits:
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, Blackmagic Production Camera 4K, Blackmagic Studio 4K, Blackmagic Studio Camera HD, Micro Four Thirds
Other Lens Fits:
B4 2/3"
