BMCC external batteries
What are your favorite battery solutions for the BMCC for different prices?
Battery life is abysmal, eh? |
Re: BMCC external batteries
Internal batteries are useless. I run mine off of my Anton Bauer batteries.
Re price - I have no idea because I've been using the batteries for about 4 - 5 years now on a couple of cameras. But I do know they aren't cheap I have a lightweight Dionic 90 and a humongous brick of an older technology non LI. 140 WH beast that I think I could run my house off of for a week - well, maybe that's a slight exaggeration:<)) It will on the other hand run a 75W on camera light where the Dionic won't run anywhere near that big a light. |

Re: BMCC external batteries
This battery gives me about 3 to 4 hours of additional recording with the BMCC EF. The cord that comes with it also fit the BMCC power in plug.
I had previously used a DIY battery set up with power tool batteries, but this works much better. |
Re: BMCC external batteries
Wow, Chris! How exactly does this work? Do you think you could post a photo of how you have it rigged? I already have an all-purpose place mount, so I'm only needing the battery + cord, and this is intriguing.

I tend to be DIY on most of my rigging, I am not concerned about looks, just performance. While on a tripod, I hand the Anker from a hook on the tripod, in a bag that came with the Anker.
For shoulder shooting, I have devised a should rig, on which I mount the battery. |

Re: BMCC external batteries
I wonder why more folks don't know about this option. How long have you been using this on BMCC? Is it safe? They shouldn't even sell the BMCC without external batteries IMO. Seems like Velcro would work well for a battery like this, stick it to the rig and be done with it.

Re: BMCC external batteries
this reminds me i need to get back to DIYing a camera battery out of 12v power tool batteries.

Re: BMCC external batteries
I've used the Anker for 3 day long shoots now, and no problems. I found out about Ankers on the Black Magic Forum, and have seen it on BMCUser.com too.
Here' what I did with the tool batteries back a year ago. |
