you got it right Jonathan. It indeed is from the 1976 Neil Simon movie, Murder By Death.
Your turn. -Garrett |
missed it!
This is one of my favorite movies! I loved Peter Sellers in his role as Sidney Wang. One of the best exchanges for me:
"I don't get something, Pop. Was there a murder or wasn't there?" "Yes. Killed good weekend. Drive, please." |
Yeah, there are so many great lines from that movie. But what else would you expect when you have a cast that includes Peter Sellers, David Niven, Alec Guinness, Peter Falk and Truman Capote. The exchanges that they have are incredible. I would have loved to be on the set to watch all of them interact with each other as they were working.
Here's a bonus question. What other movie had Peter Sellers and David Niven along with another American born Author in it? -Garrett |
Ooh! The Pink Panther.....um....Revenge of the Pink Panther? No! The Pink Panther Strikes Again? As for the author, I don't know.

But the first one that came to mind for me was "Casino Royale". As I recall, there were a few variations of "Bond" in that one - even one played by Woody Allen (as Jimmy Bond). -Jon PS: I believe I am up to bat, so I will post a quote in a few minutes. |
Good call Jonathan. It was Casino Royal. Orson Wells played Le Chiffre.

Sorry for my delay. Here is the new quote:
Character 1: "The fourth victim, Jonathan Masbeth." Character 2: "I see. And the head?" Character 3: "Taken." Character 2: "Taken. Interesting. Very Interesting." Character 4: "What is?" Character 2: "In headless corpse cases of this sort, the head was removed to prevent identification of the body." Character 4: "But we know this was Jonathan Masbeth." Character 2: "Precisely. So why was the head removed?" Character 4: "Why?" Character 2: "Right." (pause) "You have moved the body?" Character 1: "I did." Character 2: "You must never move the body!" Character 1: "Why not?" Character 2: "Because." -Jon |
No heads, hunh? Could it be Sleepy Hollow?
|
Which version specifically, Paul? Heh.
|
The Johnny Depp version?
|
Quote:
"Sleepy Hollow", the '99 version with Johnny Depp, it is. You're up, Paul. -Jon |
Quote 1:
Character 1: What have you done, [Character 2]? Character 2: About six months... but I'm on probation, so it's all good, baby! Character 1: No, I mean, what do you do best? Character 2: I can't do that here. That's why they put me away, baby! Quote 2: Character 3: I am the author. You are the audience. I outrank you! |
Argh that's so familiar...
|
Quote:
It wouldn't happen to be "Waiting for Guffman" would it? (The scene in which the director is recruiting the young man at the auto shop? - although I doubt myself because the term "baby" seems out of place for the character.) -Jon |
