Split or Trim AVCHD w/o Conversion/Rendering?

Can anyone suggest a program to split or trim AVCHD that does not involve file conversion or rendering after splitting?

Sony's PIcture Motion Browser also allows trim from either end which must be using smart rendering. It takes a short while to set up and do the first few %, then it just zips right along to the end of your desired new clip. And of course, a split can be achieved indirectly by trimming twice to produce two different clips (the first half and then the second half).

But that won't help much if you don't have a Sony cam that will get you the software...

Any editor that does "smart rendering" should pretty much leave the bulk of a clip alone for simple trims or splits via two trims.

On a mac, can't you use ClipWrap, then SimpleMovieX ? neither re-encode.

Cutting avchd

I just downloaded "Smart Cutter" from Frame Accurate H.264 AVCHD Editor Without Re-Encoding and it seems to work well. The trial version has a watermark on a few of the first and last frames but you can see if it is what you need before you buy.

In addition to those mentioned, these two might work. I haven't tried them yet. Would be interesting to see any user feedback about the three mentioned stand-alone AVCHD splitting/trimming utilities.
