Atomos Pull-Down
Can someone give me a simple explanation 3:2 & 2:2 'pull down'? I live in NTSC land, and I have a Sony HXR-NX5U camera which has recording formats including, but not limited to: 1080/60i, 1080/30p, 1080/24p, & 720/60p. The Bit-rate for these 'formats' is 24/Mbps, the highest available from the camera. The manual says, "The Samurai can detect and remove the pull-down, ...". Which 'recording format' is correct? I'm very confused.
Any and all help is appreciated. Best wishes for the Holiday Season, J. |
Re: Atomos Pull-Down
My understanding is that the Samurai, unlike the Ninja, will record the "true" progressive format out of the HD-SDI connection regardless of whether it is 24/30 over 60i or not. The Ninja records the interlaced version with the progressive pattern requiring pull down for native progressive editing.
